The Club Hotel & Spa was delighted when top fashion designer Karen Millen recently paid a visit to enjoy a short spa break with a friend.
Ms Millen went on to write an article for The Mail on Sunday proclaiming how perfect Jersey is for short breaks and how much she enjoyed The Club Hotel & Spa.
Delighted with this celebrity testimonial Lawrence Huggler, owner of The Club Hotel & Spa said “This article was a powerful and positive story on Jersey and the fact it was not written by a travel journalist but by the very successful, chic fashion designer Karen Millen has all the more meaning and really shows that ‘brand Jersey’ has changed; we are now being seen as a chic and cosmopolitan destination for short breaks, which is great news.”
The half page article titled ‘Designs on Jersey’ was illustrated with some fantastic images such as a view of the picturesque St Brelade’s Bay and a photograph of Ms Millen enjoying a glass of champagne. The piece was punctuated with a number of positive quotes such as “Our trip to Jersey was a real delight” and “For a relatively small place Jersey is packed with interesting things to do.”
Local attractions such as The Jersey War Tunnels and St Brelade’s Bay were highlighted and the Jersey Royals served at The Oyster Box where Ms Millen and her friend enjoyed lunch were described as “divine”. Ms Millen also dined at Bohemia rating Shaun Rankin’s Treacle Tart “the best I have ever tasted”
Discussing the visit Huggler went on to say “We were delighted we could welcome Karen Millen to Jersey at The Club Hotel & Spa and the fact she has written such a great piece in one of the UKs biggest selling Sunday newspapers is a huge boost to Jersey, just as many locals are debating the future of the tourism industry. I hope this article will show how well Jersey is now viewed and encourage more local support for tourism which remains responsible for an Island income of over £200 million.” .

New phenomenon in festival food hits Jersey this July
Jersey Pottery and Grassroots have joined forces this summer to present a totally new concept in festival catering. ‘Jersey Pottery - Grassroots Global Street Food’ will launch at the boutique summer festival taking place on Saturday 31st July at Val de la Mare Reservoir.
Having listened carefully to festival goers at previous events and inspired by the hugely popular ‘Harvest at Jimmy’s’, which successfully blends great music with top quality food, Jersey Pottery and the Grassroots teams have created an exciting and innovative new element to the music festival experience in Jersey.
Commenting on the partnership Linzi Wilson, co founder Allez-oop Promotions, said: “We're so excited to be able to announce the concept of ‘Jersey Pottery Grassroots Global Street Food’ and are immensely proud to be working with such a first rate local organisation.”
Discussing the motivation behind the enterprise she went on to say “Last year we visited the ‘Harvest at Jimmy’s’ festival which, just like Grassroots, is held in a stunning location, bringing people together to enjoy fabulous music in the great outdoors; each year they showcase delicious, sustainable and freshly made food, working with Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, The Hairy Bikers, Thomasina Miers amongst others. We were really inspired by their passion in providing great food at a festival, and started brainstorming ideas for how we could incorporate this into our Allez-oop events. Immediately, Jersey Pottery came to mind; we love their approach to food and it’s a great local company with extremely high standards.”
Director of Jersey Pottery Matthew Jones said “Jersey Pottery is thrilled to be working with the Grassroots Festival. Our new menu ideas will change peoples’ perception of music festival catering and we want to make great quality but affordable food an integral part of the festival experience. We are confident that the theme of Global Street Food will be a great addition to this year’s festival. Looking to the future we have plans to grow this interesting partnership and watch it develop in the coming years.”
