Bohemia retains its Michelin star for the seventh year
The kitchen brigade at Bohemia Restaurant has been celebrating this week as news arrived that the restaurant has retained its Michelin star for a seventh consecutive year. The announcement comes just 12 hours after Chef Shaun Rankin was guest at a star-studded event held in London for some of the UK and Ireland’s finest chefs to celebrate 100 years of the Michelin Guide and iconic Michelin House.
Since the launch of the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland in 1911 it has presented the very best places to eat and stay and is viewed by many as ‘the bible of gastronomy’. This year is no different with hundreds of the best pubs, restaurants, guesthouse and hotels in the UK and Ireland showcased.
The much sought after star rating is based around five main criteria: the quality of the products, the mastery of flavor and cooking, the "personality" of the cuisine, the value for the money along with the consistency between visits.
Commenting on this year’s success Bohemia Bar & Restaurant Owner, Lawrence Huggler said ‘We are so honoured to have the great work of our dedicated kitchen brigade recognised by the Michelin inspectors and we are immensely proud to be part of this wonderful institution as Michelin celebrates its 100 years.’
Since its launch in 2004, with Rankin at the helm, Bohemia Restaurant, based in St Helier at The Club Hotel & Spa, has received an impressive array of accolades. Along with the Michelin Star which it has held since 2005 it also boasts 4 AA Rosettes and a coveted A** in Harden’s UK Restaurant Guide. In addition Rankin has been heralded as ‘one of the most gifted, highly polished chefs in the British Isles’ by The Independent’s Food Critic Terry Durack.
